Is it safe to rest a laptop on a sheet covered bed or even a pillow?

It's not recommended because you could potentially block the air vents but I do it all the time, just make sure the fan vents aren't blocked and the laptop isn't running too hot. Technically no, because the heat generated from the fan can start a fire. However I'm a college student and I do I all the time, so as long as you are there and don't leave it on there when you are gone you should be ok. They do have these tray type things you can buy that are really cheap though.
apart from what other people said about it damaging the internal componets i found that it can be dangerous if you forget it and, well i dont know, you or someone elses jumps on ur bed and land on your laptop.
It's not recommended as the sheets/pillow will block the fans and vents and cause the laptop to overheat.
