Are bed bug barriers / impregnated sheets useful when backpacking?

Are bed bug barriers useful when backpacking?

Going travelling to SE Asia and would like to know from experienced travellers if it is worth it to purchase a bed bug barrier / sheet impregnated with permethrin to protect against bed bug bites when sleeping in hostels?

Do they actually work? Thanks in advanceAre bed bug barriers / impregnated sheets useful when backpacking?

Hi not sure if they work but go on www.thetravelforums.com to ask your question.

I got bed bug bites at one place only when travelling in South East Asia. I never knew that such barriers existed. All the bites are are a few spots on the skin that don't really hurt and soon fade. The barriers seem to be cheap and don't take up a lot of space. To my mind space is a premium when travelling and if I were to visit SE Asia again I still wouldn't take one. Depends whether you mind being bitten (and you're very unlikely to avoid mosquito bites which are far more noticeable because they itch) or not.
