Most STDs are very fragile organisms and just don't survive outside the body. The only STD that might be an exception would be 'crabs' or pubic lice. Anyway whose bed sheets was he sleeping in???

It's possible to catch pubic lice off bedsheets, not entirely sure about other sexually transmitted infections but i think its unlikely.
Still, even with pubic lice, the most likely cause is sexual contact as apposed to close contact through bedsheets, etc.
